Were are all the true punks at.... Every day when I go out to a store I see some little kid who has his hair all grown out looking like a damn hippie and listening to Fallout Boy....... REALITY CHECK PEOPLE!!!!! How many times do I have to say to some poser.... so you're a punk cause mommy and daddy bought you some DC's and a skateboard that you have know clue how to ride and a Used CD..... I'm sorry that is not punk!!! If you see a kid like that which sadly they are the majority that is the definition of a poser. Punk.... in it's true form is not a music, or a style of dress....wake up people it's not!!!! The guy wearing wranglers, the one with the big assed glasses, the one who always gets made fun of I bet that he knows more about the true definition of a punk than any one. Punk is a way of life, a way of belief. But unlike the hippies.... we dont stand back, we do something!!! We try to make a difference! Music is just a way of expressing those feelings, and a way to put plans in motion!!! But for the kid out there listening to FallOut Boy who thinks he's punk...... Throw your Pop Cd's away and your name brand clothes that are made in Bangledesh and Third world countries.... where workers slave long hours and the pay they recieve is so low that their families starve, and their babies die! While our own country sits back and does nothing but promote the sale of these goods and promote the downfall of a people........so If you fit the category of a poser..... I recomend you first buy a Bad Religion CD..... Dont listen to the music.....but listen to the lyrics......If they reach your heart and make you feel like you've been lied to all along...you're almost there.... !!!!!!!!! If you still hate it, wait about 2 years till the new fad comes out.... You'll be the one walking around in Eskimo Boots and I'll still be wearing my american made blue jeans! Oh and I know what I'm gonna get for saying that...... but you cant say f the government!!! Thats not punk man...... Yeah f the people who run it, but the government itself, the 1 our fore-fathers created if ran properly is one of the best systems of governing ever created. Well I'm rambling now so............start arguing, cause a commotion, or just get utterly confused in what I have wriiten..... If you are confused or are very attractive female between the ages of 18 and 26 I'll gladly answer any questions you may have! PS I really do hate posers....this is becoming a problem! LOL

bad religion is the worst to start someone off on.as far as punk goes they are like the s--- that has accumulated around your mouth after a long night of drinkin. throw them straight into a agnostic front show, and watch them try to get out without getting stomped. thats how i learned, and thats how i think everyone who wants to see what punk rock is about. its about a fast, violent, loud life style. activism and punk are very seperate. im involved in both because im an anarchist and its kind of my duty. but you cant make a punk it just happens, after lots of brocken bones, nnoses, buligerant nights, getting arrested, and concusions.

well what is a true punk??? ive asked this question many times to older and younger punks but i still not have a clear answer, to me a true punk is some that is: 1)passinate about punk music and artists (wheather its blink or explioted) 2) some one that actualy gives a f and cares whats happening around them and in the world 3)some one that has their own indiviadal views but still maintains respect for others (we are all human, no one is born a punk) 4)some one who respect other music sences and trends (i know most chavs can be stupid but i do have chav mates ) 5) and above all some one(s) that can have a f**king good time, any where, and every where listing to some of the best bands this worlds seen. feel free ppl the mail me, coz there are some real intresting ppl on this site and would be cool to hear from there thoughts and ideas on 'wat is a true punk' or 'r true punks dying'

well i think you should cut them a break.
most kids who listen to that s--- dont think they are punk anyway.
and not only that but most of them are under 13 years old.
if they do really want to be punk they have to be introduced to it somehow.
i mean nobody is born punk (unless they are fortunate enought to have punk parents...) but if you arent then you have to learn somehow.
its not like its easy to be punk.
you kinda have to have something lead you to it.
and sometimes that is good charlotte and fall out boy.
and yeah maybe sometimes they are just spoiled little kids who like the music but why the f do you even care?
let them do what they want.
we shouldnt be fighting the kid who listens to simple plan but instead someone who really matters.
why waste your energy making fun of the "poser" when you could be making a difference in more important matters.

Well said that man! It's true. We all started somewhere. Some may have been luckier than others in their introduction to punk music. Remember in the 70's and early 80's when punk was the "in thing" and every one was into it? It's the same today. It's cool. Ok, the bands may have changed, but for every kid that's into punk for the fashion and the wrong reasons, as long as even 1% of them realises that it's a way of life and not just for christmas, they'll keep the torch burning, just like we did all those years ago when it was no longer the in thing. You just need to go to something like the Wasted festival to see that punk aint dead. Far from it my friend. Excuse the poorly constructed reply. I am rather drunk.

as far as im concerned bands like bad religion, nofx, rancid, greenday, etc.... the list could go on forever but my point is that we got all these kids who have never actually seen a real punk band in their life, walking around wearing the clothes and playing the whole "anarchy in the u.k." im a punk rocker game. Dan't get me wrong the --- Pistols rule and the song is all right but at least research the f'in scene if you're gonna pretend to fit in. I can relate b/c i've only been listening to and playing punk music for a little over 2 years now. But i also know my punk rock history, and i listen to real punk rock like G.G. , The Misfits, and my personal favorite the dead milkmen. I dont care about who's more HARDCORE or who does more heroin. But if you want to here some real punk rock i would suggest any of the punk rock before the 90's. B/C we are indeed a dying breed. Example: Sid Vicious, Darby Crash, Dave Blood (bass player for the dead milkmen). They're all dead, and all the good bands that kill thereselves split up when the 90's hit and the grunge bands just started rippin of punk. Now punk is a main stream fasion, but the real punk rock roots are underground in the little s---ty clubs found around the country. Local Bands are what keeps punk alive not these millionaire mother f'ers who play at the warped tour. I live in a town surrounded by corn fields in the middle of redneck county ,Ohio, but i still no where to go to see a good punk rock show. Even if i have to drive 70 miles to Bernie's in Columbus , Ohio. But as they say it's always darkess before dawn. And i say that the punk rock movement is ready to take the scene, all we have to do is unite. I mean look at it we got the skinheads fightin the hardcore kids, the hardcore kids are fightin with themselves tryin to figure out who's more HARDCORE. It's bull---- If all the kids would get their heads straight and unite instead of fighting over what real punk is. And if any can tell me what real punk rock is please do so, b/c the kids these days dont know. And how could they, they werent around for the pistols, the ramones, the cramps, the misfits, jfa, bad brains, the dead milkmen. Al us kids have to identify with is the history of punk. It's time me started creating a new history where there are no scenes just punk rock. We need some good local punk bands to start getting together and get recognized, start the movement, were trying in Ohio, but one farming state isn't enough. we need every punk. If you're in a punk band that resides near Ohio or in Ohio email me to discuss getting some shows together if youre interested in bringing punk back on top. And if you ever come to our state don't forget to check out SKATOPIA
(punk rock heaven and hell) it's located near Athens, Oh near Ohio University. This is probably the most anarchy you will ever see, and some of the best punk bands around the country, we've even had bands from texas come to play there. Slayer, JFA, Burn the priest a.k.a Lamb Of God. If interested in playing at Skatopia visit www.skatopia.org; you must have a demo though before Bruce (owner ) will book you. He probably doesnt even listen to the demo so if your band sucks dont worry he'll still book you. For real punk rock Skatopia, Ohio is the place to be. Its like hookaville without the hippies, lots more skating, drinking, fighting, and f'ing

ok, this page or link starts out " punk a die ing breed" then goes into alist of people ripping up other people and music. lame. If someones punk good for them, if someone wants to be punk good for them. if someones a poser other people know it , but is better than ripping people apart for what theyre doing with thier life. to the dude ripping on bad religion they would stomp you out and if i saw you in the pit id trample on you also.

Any one who has anything real to talk about lets hear it.
skate smoke party enjoy shows
latz
p.s.
It's to bad the whole worlds not punk/goth/skater/biker.

Its always amazed me that for a scene thats meant to about being yourself and freedom of expression its always seemed to have an awful lot of rules. It was no different in the 80's though I was told that Exploited, GBH, Crass, Conflict, Vice squad and subhumans where not real punk, as only bands between 76 - 78 where "real"

What is punk is subjective - it means diffrent things to diffrent people.

For me, it means being honest no matter what, with yourself and other people.

Staying true to whatever it is you believe and not saying stuff that goes against those beliefs for popularity or any other reason.

Not being judgemental, I mean who the f*** is anyone to say what people should listen to, or how they should dress, I really would have thought by now that this attitude would have died

They would be my three main ones, if you don't agree then good for you.

Rember what Jello said those that go on about "I'm more punk than thou" "I'm more squat than thou" "I'm more anarchy than thou" usually turn into the worst kind of conformists when they get older.

If I wanted to conform to anything I would never have gotten into punk in the first place
